By Andrew Mullens | Kimbilio Support
Thank you so much for your support for this vital Kimbilio project of reuniting children living on the streets with their families. These young children deserve the love and support of their families and the Kimbilio staff team in Lubumbashi make a priority to talk with the children when they come to the Day Centre to discover the circumstances that have led to these children leaving their home and living on the streets.
Ilness or death of one of the parents can often be a factor as the surviving parent may not be able to support their children. Sometimes, after remarriage, the new parent comes already with children, and there may be too many to support. The Kimbilio team seek to establish contact with the family members and negotiate a return of the child. Sometimes, grandparents or aunts and uncles may take in the children. Often the Kimbilio team may contribute towards school fees and school uniforms and text books to help the familiy. Or provide a sack of grain to help them to feed the returning child.
Thank you again for your generous support.
