Dear Alhassan’s Donors,

We do highly thank you for your last donation. You have contributed to the change of physically challenged people’s life. Rise Up project is one of our very essential projects. It aims to provide occupational therapy and everyday activities and exercises to maintain the health of the body of the physically challenged person. We have our Youtube channel where we upload these training and workouts videos for maintaining the health and strength of the body. This leads to physical independence where the physically challenged person becomes more active and sociable.

Let’s tell you about one of our beneficiaries who have a great benefit from this project. Through your support, her life has been changed to the better. Rania is 27 years old lady. She suffers from Muscle Atrophy. This medical condition leads to weakness in the muscles and stamina. Rania’s life has changed a lot after following up our channel. At the beginning, it was very difficult for her to climb up a ramp with her wheelchair, move from her wheelchair to the car and to do wheelies* (hold her wheelchair up with the front wheel raised off the ground) to overcome some street bumps.

By now, Rania is becoming more independent and sociable. She can move easily on her own. After practicing the exercises which she watched on Youtube, now she can climb up ramps, move around on her own and get in the car without any assistance. Her dream is becoming true as she always dreamt of “Dancing” using her wheelchair. She started taking dancing classes and started with “Salsa Dance”. Your support and donations changes the life of the physically challenged people.

Lately, we won an honorary award of Zero Project Conference 2019 to acknowledge that we are sustainable in our mission and vision and we are always seeking for the betterment of life for physically challenged people through changing their disability into ability. This Award ceremony was held in the UN premises in Vienna which focused on Independent Living and Political Participation. This honorary award is not only for us, it is for you as well our donor. Learning to turn the Disability into Ability!

Dear all Alhassan Foundation’s friends, believers & supporters,

We still believe that there’s nothing called as a disabled person rather he or she is a differently abled person. We can prove that to you by turning the disability into ability through learning the basic skills of using a wheelchair that permanent wheelchair users should learn to be independent and active persons.

It’s our pleasure to announce that we produced a series of 27 tutorial video series for basic wheelchair skills in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. This series is available online on YouTube for the 1^st time in Arabic for all Arabic speaking countries to provide this service for the underprivileged physically challenged people in this region.

We are currently trying to secure enough funding to turn this online video series into one to one sessions where we train the wheelchair users in person on how to overcome their mobility issues and become independent.

We 1^st got introduced to this type of therapy (occupational therapy) during Alhassan’s rehabilitation journey in Germany after his accident. Then we decided to bring this amazing method of therapy to Egypt to help wheelchair users through our program (Rise Up) to help them see through their challenge and find hope again that they still can be independent.

Occupational Therapy is a Right Not a Privilege!

One to One training sessions

Dear all Alhassan Foundation’s friends, believers & supporters,

We are one step closer to our dream of providing occupational therapy one on one sessions for wheelchair users in Egypt. Currently we are negotiating with different partners to sponsor such sessions, and hopefully we will start with a 1st batch soon.

We believe in that moving independently through Occupational Therapy (OT) rehabilitation is a key factor towards an active community includes persons with Disabilities (PWDs). It’s the 1st gate that helps wheelers’ inclusion in society freely with tailored practices to suit each of their cases & surrounding environment taking into consideration that OT is not provided in Egypt so far. Yet we are trying to introduce this concept to our communities and help wheelchair users in Egypt live a happy active life.

We are not only depending on the one on one session thought it's very important. We produced 27 episodes of Occupational therapy techniques & practices that if a person did it one his/her own can survive and have a more active life than he/she expects, which leads to more independence.

Our audience benefit from these videos through multiple resources not only our YouTube channel. Many of our beneficiaries are living in rural areas, and they don’t have a stable Internet access. So we provided them CD that includes all the 27 episode of Occupational Therapy, and we distribute it for free to our members (wheelchair users).

Also, we post these videos on our Facebook page (23,676 followers) as the majority of our members prefer following our Facebook page as a way of communication with the society and with their peers and watching the videos through our page.

Not only that, but also our wheelchair users/members communicate with each other in a private group on Facebook that we created for them to be as a support group where they can exchange their experience & knowledge and discuss it among each other (1,234 members)

We still believe that the best application for these techniques will be through One on One sessions to be able to train the person and help him/her be more active as well as creating a mobile app that the wheelchair user can access these episode without needing any internet connection in his/her own room from anywhere in the world. That's why we depend on your support to help us make this dream come true.
