Rise Up Ocuppational Therapy Awareness Campaign!

By Lamise ElBetar | Project leader

Occupational Therapy Session
Occupational Therapy Session

Dear all Alhassan Foundation’s friends, believers & supporters,

Thank you our loyal donor; you helped us launch an awareness campaign to educate wheelchair users in Egypt about Rise Up Occupational Therapy sessions that we are preparing to offer this year. We encouraged all wheelchair users in Egypt to apply and we planned to organize and classify all their information & needs to allocate the proper sessions for them.

We are currently seeking for collaboration & partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Egypt to Co-sponsor this program so we will be able to offer these occupational therapy session to a wide range of wheelchair users in Egypt from all ages and backgrounds. During the past few months your contribution helped us to prepare for launching an Arabic version of the very impactful book “Life on Wheels”. This book will be as a personal guide for wheelchair users on how to cope with their new life circumstances after their spinal cord injury. It won’t only help those who are recently suffered any mobility issues, but also will help those who were born paraplegic.

We distributed tens of CDs for free to assist wheelchair users to learn how to adapt to their new life efficiently. Through these 27 episodes included in each CD that our beneficiaries hold in their hand, every wheelchair user can practice all these techniques to be physically independent, and live their life as they want without permanent assistance.

When we first announced launching this program on our Facebook page, we noticed high interest in our members’ comments and how they are eager to know more about it and participate in such training. Not only that, but also many of them asked for special requests to manage sessions about certain needs such as how to be able to sit on the wheelchair again after falling or stumbling over any obstacle in the street without needing assistance, and many other suggestions. We promised to manage such sessions and produce episodes about it and add them to the new version of our CD series, but we really want to direct more funds to such initiative that’s why we need your support.
We would like to thank each and every one of you for your support. We urge you to continue supporting our cause and stay loyal donors to our cause through subscribing to a monthly recurring donation option. That will help wheelchair users in Egypt be more confident and accomplished. Please visit our Facebook page to read other success stories:
