Shaimaa - An Accomplished and Powerful Lady
Shaimaa - An Accomplished and Powerful Lady

Dear Alhassan Foundation’s friends, believers and supporters,

Thanks to your generous donations we were able to offer needed physical, psychological and social empowering services to our beneficiaries. Starting from providing tutorials on how to become physically independent to peer counseling sessions that foster healthy attitude towards one’s challenge and finally to helping couples achieve their dreams of having a baby! Click here to know more about Bliss.

In this report we will mention one of our most inspiring success stories that peer counseling played a major role at. Shaimaa was one of Alhassan’s beneficiaries. She has birth defects that led to her being a permanent wheelchair user. She is well-educated but due to the society’s unacceptance of her difference, she spent years at home. When she became a beneficiary of Alhassan, we got to know her and the spark in her eyes was evident; she wanted to do something, she wanted to change her life. She applied to work at Alhassan and was employed as a customer service representative. After few months of excelling at her job and learning new things every day, she was promoted to work as information coordinator and now she is the coordinator of one of our strategic projects, Source of Income.

At the start of 2020, we held a staff meeting to showcase our achievements throughout 2019 and discuss our plan and vision for 2020. We also give Employee of the Year during that meeting. Shaimaa was deservingly chosen as employee of the year during that meeting.

That is the kind of effect peer counseling sessions has on people, it opens their eyes on their many different capabilities and motivates them to reach beyond their expectation.

On another note, we are holding campaigns on all of our social media platforms urging people to stay home and follow all the procedures advised and offering tips on how to protect themselves and keep their wheelchairs clean to avoid possible infections. Kindly support us so we can share more useful content for Arabic-speaking wheelchair users.

We would like to thank every one of you for your support. We urge you to continue supporting our cause and staying loyal donors to our cause through subscribing to a monthly recurring donation option. That will help wheelchair users in Egypt be more confident and accomplished. Please visit our Facebook page to read other success stories:
