New robotics training for young women are coming!

Dear friends and donors,

We at Fundación Omar Dengo are thankful for your continued support that allows to bring thrilling educational opportunities to young women with disabilities through GlobalGiving.

As a result of scheduling conflicts at the secondary schools where our team had previously chosen young women with cognitive disabilities to participate, we had to delay the start of the two robotics training workshops which were originally planned and reported to begin in late March and April. Our revised plan is to complete recruitment and registration of young women interested in learning about robotics in July and August, and offer at least two face-to-face workshops between August and December 2023.

In the meantime, the project team conducted an assessment and will proceed with ongoing efforts to implement the necessary updates for the current training materials. These updates are intended to align the materials with the most recent version of the EV3 robotics kit, ensuring that they more effectively facilitate learning about robotics and programming concepts tailored for young women with disabilities.

Additionally, we maintain our plan of conducting a robotics workshop for at least 12 young women who are deaf or hard of hearing in the second semester of 2023.

We would like to encourage you and your friends, family and colleagues to join us this July 12, 2023 in the GlobalGiving July Bonus Day campaign, where we will celebrate your commitment via higher donations and thus higher support.
