Project Report | Nov 1, 2023
Lets celebrate new learning opportunities!

By Ronald Segura | Project Leader

New cohort = new learning opportunities!
New cohort = new learning opportunities!

Dear friends and donors,

Since September 30th, FOD is hosting two new Robotics training workshops for young women with intellectual disability.

These STEAM-related workshops were possible thanks to your kind support, and we want to celebrate with you that 20 young women between 13 and 20 years of age, are now learning skills on the principles of constructing and coding a robot, addressing basic concepts of robotics, its components and laws. At the same time, allowing them to interact, practice teamwork and problem-solving skills.

The two workshops started on September 30 and will run for 10 consecutive Saturdays until the November 18. Participants already know how to code sound, lights, sensors and motors. They understand and apply the concept of infinite loop, and have assembled their first simple gear mechanism.

In the upcoming months, we expect to recruit a new cohort of young women with hearing disabilities, as our original training workshop has been updated and is now ready to continue benefiting young women who are deaf or hard-of-hearing from across Costa Rica.

We at Fundación Omar Dengo are thankful for your continued support and will like to encourage you, your friends, family and colleagues to support the Robotics for Young Women with disabilities program during the GivingTuesday celebrations on November 28,2023!
