Honoring Rohingya Women: International Women's Day

By Katherine Coe | Individual Giving Officer

This International Women's Day we honor the women and girls that work with ActionAid to make the world a more sustainable, equitable, and safe place.

ActionAid Bangladesh’s Arpita, who works iwith Rohingya youth in Cox’s Bazar. shares how ActionAid programs support the development of young girls' self-esteem:

"A large number of youths are living in the Rohingya refugee camps. We are working on the young individuals' soft skill development.

Today's youth are the tomorrow's changemakers.

We are working to engage them in meaningful activities to develop their self-esteem and to keep away from anti-social activities.

Women are often disproportionately affected by humanitarian crises and development problems, and it is therefore important that women are represented among the humanitarian workers.

With the decision making and leadership, it will promote collaborative and fruitful humanitarian assistance."

For more of a detailed update on the situation in Cox's Bazar and how ActionAid's response is supporting Rohingya refugees, see the attached images.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support during this critical time.
