Dear friends,
Welcome to another short update from Karama Organization. So glad to have you reading this!
The summer season is full on with rooftop (and doorsteps) carrying posts of mint or baskets of tomato plants. While vegetable prices are seering high, several women have already picked a good harvest. Karama even announced a competition for the most succesful greenhouse that continues to plant and benefit among all owners. The lucky (and hard-working) winner got a financial prize that will support her household.
Karama's greenery store is also open and serving the local community with all sorts of plants, seeds, seedlings, soil and other equipment residents might need to grow herbs, vegetables and plants around their homes.
In other news, slowly more and more tourists are coming back into Palestine and that means also more visitors again in Karama. It was a joy to host several friends in the past few weeks. A delegation from our supporters from Penny Appeal paid us a visit. Also a group of students from Denmark spent a lovely morning chatting about Palestine and the rooftop greenhouses.
Will you be visiting us next?
Karama is looking to open up its volunteering program again so keep an eye on the upcoming announcements and share widely in your network if people around you are interested in spending some time in Palestine.
Warmly,
the Karama Team
