Thanks to your support, the Roots Community Market has been able to provide fresh produce, vegetables, and shelf stable foods to over 750 households! We have now received 21 donations to our project totaling $2,130.
In January 2019 Roots launched our Turning Point initiative to assist in abating the current devastating housing crisis in Oakland, California. The Turning Point Project provides up to 40 homeless individuals with free temporary housing (emergency bridge units), housing navigation, and linkage to healthcare and employment assistance. Thanks to your support, Turning Point residents are also able to shop for food weekly at the Roots Community Market!
Within the first two months of Turning Point’s launch one resident has already found permanent housing and four have been linked to job opportunities. This is a huge success! And as they make these critical transitions, their access to food will remain stable, thanks to your support.
Thank you for helping us maintain the Roots Community Market as a resource for all of our clients and especially for those with the greatest need.
