Promoting Natural Farming Practices in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) has been trying to improve the life standard of to the Sundarbans coastal people (Banishanta union of Dacope sub district of Khulna district). BEDS has supported 20 Sheep, 100 chicken and 100 ducks to this coastal people.The supported people are now very happy with those livestock. It turns out to be a great means of alternative livelihood for them.

Impact:

Now I am earning money from home. I can earn from chicken eggs and chicken meat selling. Now I don’t have to look for work. I am contributing to my family income and this brings solvency in my family income.

Feedbacks from the beneficiaries:

One of beneficiary expresses his felling. Before I used to work as a shop worker in Khulna city. However, my family live in the village and I was able to support myself with my earnings. In Bangladesh lockdown started from March 2020 due to the Covid-19 epidemic and this time I lost my job. At this time we are in economic trouble, on the other hand I could not find a job. In this situation I came back to my family in the village. In this situation BEDS has support chicken and sheep. New chicken have been born and sheep are giving birth to new lambs, we earn from egg and chicken selling. Our income has increase.

But there are many more villagers live in the Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh, who are jobless and they needs the same support. People who lose their job due to Codid-19 epidemic.BEDS is currently trying to raise fund from GlobalGiving platform in order to help those marginal people.
