Project Report | Jun 10, 2021
Help coastal people to lead a better life

By Md. Nurul Amin | Project Leader

Poultry farming by the coastal people
Poultry farming by the coastal people

Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) has supported 20 Sheep, 100 chicken and 100 ducks to the Sundarbans coastal people (Banishanta union of Dacope sub district of Khulna district). The supported villagers are nourishing those livestock. So, the number is increasing day by day. The supported villagers are earning from eggs and meat selling. The supported people are now very happy with those livestock.

Impact:

I am very happy to involve with a job. I can earn from eggs and meat selling. I am contributing to my family income and this brings solvency in my family income. I can take proper care of my children and also contributing education expense.

Feedbacks from the beneficiaries:

One of beneficiary expresses her felling. I am a ‍housewife and my husband is a rickshaw puller. We have three children and all of them are continuing their studies. It was very difficult to cover the family expense and children’s education expenses in one earnings. I always prayed to get a job to support my family. On the other hand in Bangladesh lockdown started from March 2020 due to the Covid-19 epidemic and husband’s income goes down even more. In this situation BEDS has support duck and sheep. New duckling has been born and sheep are giving birth to new lambs, we earn from egg and meat selling. Now me and my husband both are earning, I am contributing to my family expenses also and our life has been changed day by day. I can take proper care of my children and can taking care of their children education in a better way than what they did in the past.

But there are many more poor villagers live in the coastal region of Bangladesh, who are jobless due to Codid-19 epidemic and they needs the same support. BEDS is currently trying to raise fund from GlobalGiving platform in order to help those marginal people.

We would like to thank all our donors for being so kind to us so far. We are requesting all our kind donors to start monthly recurring donation. For recurring donation, please visit the following link;
