BEDS supported 20 Sheep, 100 chicken and 100 ducks to improve rural women’s economic situation during Covid-19. The women are taking care of the livestock. They are providing quality feed, regular basis grazing of sheep in the field and monitoring the livestock on regular basis. Sheep are giving birth of new lambs. The number of livestock is increasing day by day. They have also sold the sheep for meat and got economic support. They are taking care of the livestock like new born babies. The villagers have got a chance to enhance their economic condition day by day. Now, it is a matter of great enjoyment that the marginal poor people have bought some sheep from earned profit consequently.
There are many marginal villagers live in the Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh, who need the same support. The People who depend on the Sundarbans resource harvesting fall in huge risk as Bangladesh government has issued strict laws on forest resource harvesting. Also, for unplanned resource harvesting; the natural resources have degraded at a high rate. Those people have maintained their life under breadline. In our country, the pandemic situation is going on advancement but still people have less capability to start their daily income generating activities. Livestock can be a great source for them to raise their income as well as for fulfilling their nutritional requirement also. BEDS is currently working on raising fund for those marginal people in the way of income generation for their better future with better economic condition. We also hope that, through taking support from various corners they will be able to use their productivity for earning their sound livelihood.
