Initiatives to ensures sound nutrition through sheep grazing

By Sanjida Yeasmin | Project Leader

Ensuring sound nutrition through sheep grazing
Ensuring sound nutrition through sheep grazing

BEDS had given 20 sheep to improve their economic situation during Covid-19. Recently BEDS has supported 15 sheeps to the villagers. The villagers who had given the support, are taking care of the livestock on daily basis. As the villagers are poor, they are rearing the sheep through grazing for ensuring good nutrition. This grazing system also helps environment for producing new forage or grasses.

Throughout the year the coastal people go to the Sundarban to collect honey, catch fish and crabs, collect leaves, and others. The People who depend on the Sundarbans resource harvesting fall at huge risk as the Bangladesh government has issued strict laws on forest resource harvesting. Also, for unplanned resource harvesting; the natural resources have degraded at a high rate. Those people have maintained their life under the breadline

The Omicron variant of the coronavirus has now been detected in Bangladesh. So, people have passed their life through anxiety and fear. Moreover, people have no capability enough to start their daily income-generating activities. Livestock can be a great source for them to raise their income as well as for fulfilling their nutritional requirement also.

 BEDS is currently trying to raise funds from GlobalGiving platform in order to help those marginal people in the way of income generation for their better future with better economic conditions.

We would like to thank all our donors for being so kind to us so far. We are requesting all our kind donors to start monthly recurring donation. For recurring donation, please visit the following link;
