Promoting Natural Farming Practices in Bangladesh

Recently, BEDS has provided commercial skill to Banojibi members on producing, processing and packaging nature-based products through maintaining natural resource management. Now, Banojibi members have manufactured products of non-timber forest products under the brand of Banojibi to earn better livelihood.

Banojibi members have produced handicraft items which is unique comparing with available market products considering materialistic composition, taste, texture, geographical context etc. The female member who is only associated with household chores previously, now preparing wonderful products through natural resource management such as pickle of kewra, chalta, mango, tamarind and molasses of nipa palm; preparing different handicraft items such as Wallmet making by using matured mangrove leaves, jute shikha, recycle saree blanket, preparing sculpture of Sundarbans biodiversity by using remaining wax after collection of honey etc.

Another apparent innovation of Banojibi members is to recognize the native products of Sundarbans to our future generations which will help to increase knowledge and emotional attachment to Sundarbans. In the year of 2022, the monthly income generation through selling the products has increased and hope to do better in the upcoming years.

BEDS is currently trying to raise funds from GlobalGiving platform in order to help those marginal people in the way of income generation for their better future with better economic conditions. We also hope that through taking support from various corners they will be able to use their products for earning their sound livelihood.
