Shrimp cultivation in southern part of Bangladesh caused saline water logging and increased saline water intrusion. But by the initiative of Bangladesh Environment and Development Society through Integrated Mangrove Aquaculture (IMA) model where mangrove species planted in the shrimp farm and ensure water inlet outlet system by a channel. In shrimp farm, mangrove species provide fooding through mangrove leaf rotten. Not only that, this plant root works as a habitat of fish and also provide shade from extreme sun shine. So, biodiversity can be conserved through this model. For this reason, farmer can easily earn in natural process because no need to feeding of this mangrove shrimp.
BEDS is currently trying to raise funds from GlobalGiving platform in order to help those marginal people in the way of income generation for their better future with better economic conditions. We also hope that through taking support from various corners they will be able to use their products for earning their sound livelihood.
