Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) working for sustainable production practices in south western coastal region of Bangladesh. In these initiatives, they are implementing integrated mangrove aquaculture like planting mangrove in the shrimp farm so that in the long run, this mangrove can reduce the input cost of feed in the shrimp farm. Farmers also cultivating vegetable in the farm dyke so that they can partially meet up the need of vegetable. This initiative has been taken in a short scale under two upazila and BEDS is trying to scale up this model so that conserve the ecosystem and also can improve the livelihood of the coastal people.
BEDS is currently trying to raise funds from GlobalGiving platform in order to help those marginal people in the way of income generation for their better future with better economic conditions. We also hope that through taking support from various corners they will be able to use their products for earning their sound livelihood.
