ACTIVITY REPORT

School results :

The school year ended well for the children at Centre AGAPE. The results lived up to our expectations. For almost all the children, the marks obtained correspond to the objectives that had been set. **10 out of 19 ** children will move on to the next classes.

Of the 4 young adults who sat official exams,  **2 succeeded: ** we obtained a baccalauréat and a probatoire.

Day of the African Child :

The Day of the African Child is an international day organised every year since 16 June 1991 by the Organisation of African -Unity (OAU).

A number of activities were organised over 3 days with private social organisations, including AGAPE Association.

There was a visit to a Cultural Centre, followed by a football match between children from the different structures. Children's Day came to a close at the AGAPE Centre. A "cooking" workshop was held. The children cooked Fried rice and cakes.

These days were spent in an excellent atmosphere of solidarity.

Children's holidays :

The holiday period allowed the children who have relatives to visit them. One group left in July and the second group is currently on holiday. All the children will be at the Centre by 27 August at the latest.

Reorganisation of staff duties :

The voluntary departure of Germain; one of the long term supervisor toward greater personal opportunities led to a reorganisation of staff duties. In collaboration with the president of our main partner, SOLENCA association (Solidarité Enfance Cameroun), the job descriptions have been reorganised.

We also recruited new staff to fill the gaps. Some employees have been promoted to a higher level through bigger responsibilities and scheduled empowerment trainings.

Children's administrative situation :

This holiday period was an opportunity to update the young adults' identity papers. Each youth now has a Carte Nationale d'Identité (CNI) thank to the help of one supporter of the Center. This will allow them to cope with their moving to adulthood.

Integrating new children :

We are currently preparing for the arrival of new children at the Centre. The social worker is specifically responsible for identifying children who are currently experiencing social or family difficulties or distress.  At present, 7 children aged between 6 and 12 are likely to join the Centre. The first of them is due to arrive on 16 August.

The next school year :

The process of enrolling or re-enrolling children in local schools has begun. As last year, most children will be enrolled in public schools.

Refurbishment of the Centre :

Over the last few weeks, work has been carried out inside the Centre, including the painting of all the rooms. All the sanitary fittings have also been finished.

School fees :

Last school year, we paid school fees for 23 children. The fees amounted to more than 3 million CFA francs, or nearly $5,000. This year we will have 7 new children, so the school fees will be even higher.

We will therefore have a heavy financial burden, and we will need your support to enable all the children we support to go to school.

Participation in the July Bonus Day campaign :

AGAPE took part in GlobalGiving's latest July Bonus Day campaign. Unfortunately, we did not reach our target.

We would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our thanks to all those who donated to this campaign. There are many more campaigns to come and we hope you will continue to help us change positively lives together and involve your friends and family. Thank you also to GlobalGiving for this platform, which is a real tool for helping people around the world!
