One Cookstove. A Healthier Home. A Brighter Future.
Sometimes, the simplest solutions can make the biggest difference.
For many families in rural Guatemala, preparing a daily meal means cooking over open flames with firewood. While this has been a way of life for generations, traditional cooking methods can expose families to harmful smoke, increase the risk of burns, and require significant time and energy to gather firewood.
At Hunger Relief International (HRI), we believe every family deserves a safe and healthy place to call home. That's why our Safe Cookstoves Project is helping transform everyday cooking for vulnerable families in Guatemala.
This past month, we have installed 218 safe cookstoves in 218 homes!
One Cookstove. Multiple Life-Changing Benefits.
HRI's safe, ventilated, eco-friendly cookstoves offer practical solutions to challenges families face every day.
Healthier Air, Healthier Families
Improved ventilation helps reduce exposure to harmful cooking smoke, especially for women and children who often spend the most time near cooking fires.
Safer Homes for Children
A safer, more contained cooking environment helps reduce the risk of burns and injuries from open flames.
Less Firewood, Less Work
More efficient stoves require less firewood, reducing the time and physical effort families spend collecting fuel.
More Time for What Matters
Less time gathering firewood means more opportunities for families to focus on their children, education, work, and other daily priorities.
A Healthier Environment
Reducing firewood consumption helps conserve natural resources and supports more sustainable cooking practices.
Small Changes. Lasting Impact.
A cookstove may seem like an ordinary household item, but for a mother preparing meals for her children, it can mean breathing cleaner air, spending less time collecting firewood, and having greater peace of mind about her family's safety.
That's the power of a practical solution. It doesn't just change how a family cooks. It can improve how they live.
Through our continued work in rural Guatemala, HRI is helping families build healthier homes, reduce everyday risks, and take meaningful steps toward a more sustainable future.
Help Us Bring Safer Cooking to More Families
Every family deserves a kitchen where meals can be prepared safely and children can grow up in a healthier environment.
Your generosity helps HRI continue providing practical, life-improving solutions to families facing extreme poverty.
Together, we can turn something as simple as a cookstove into an opportunity for better health, greater safety, and lasting hope.
