PARK ALLEYS AND PLANTING

Dear Friends,

This report covers the period from September 25, 2022 to January 15, 2023, and is our fourteenth report on the project of Safeguarding Frogs and Birds in Masuria, Poland.

As you already know we are finally working on the venture mentioned above. In the last few months we have moved forward with a construction work on the park alleys. After their completion, they will direct pedestrian traffic to limit human access to a refuge for endangered species. Targeting the traffic will protect natural habitats and decrease further degradation of the historic park.

Also as per our plans for 2022 we performed a planting work to supplement existing vegetation with additional plants, shrubs and trees. This will cause increased availability of nest sites for 25 endengered bird species. Habitat restoration will provide environmental conditions that promote the growth of selected populations: fire-bellied toad and some bird species.

The winter weather does not cooperate with our plans. We assume that all the alleys and the planting work should be completed by the end of May.

Happy New Year! We are feeling thankful for the year behind and enthusiastic for the year ahead.

All the best,
Grazyna Polkowska
