Rejection forces hundreds of LGBTQIA+ children onto Niger's streets, exposing them to abuse and trafficking. This project provides emergency shelter, medical care, and trauma counseling for 200 displaced youth. We offer the region's only safe sanctuary where vulnerable minors can heal, resume their education, and regain dignity. We move them from immediate danger to long-term safety, ensuring no child is left defenseless due to who they are.
In Niger, deep-rooted stigma compels families to violently disown LGBTQIA+ children. Cast out and homeless, these minors face imminent threats of sexual slavery, physical assault, and starvation. They cannot access state-run shelters due to high risks of further persecution or forced "conversion" attempts. Without this specialized intervention, these 200 youth are entirely defenseless against a hostile environment, trapped in a cycle of poverty and severe trauma.
We provide the only identity-affirming safe haven for at-risk youth in the region. Your donation secures a discreet facility offering 200 youth a safe bed, nutritious meals, and hygiene kits. We deliver holistic care: trauma-informed therapy to heal mental scars, legal advocacy to protect rights, and re-enrollment in schools. We do not just shelter children; we equip them with the medical, vocational, and educational tools needed to survive and thrive independently.
This project breaks the cycle of homelessness and exploitation for a marginalized generation. By prioritizing education and vocational skills, we empower 200 youth to become financially independent adults, permanently removing them from the streets. Beyond individual survival, this safe house establishes a critical precedent for human rights in West Africa, fostering a future resilient community of leaders who will drive social change from within.
