Thousands of elderly women displaced by conflict in Nigeria are left without safe shelter. Many sleep in abandoned structures or overcrowded camps, leaving them exposed to cold, hunger, and illness. This project will provide 200 displaced elderly women with safe housing, food, and basic health support in war-torn regions of Nigeria. With 70% of displaced persons over 60 reporting poor living conditions, urgent action is needed now to protect their dignity and survival.
Conflict and insecurity in Nigeria have forced thousands of elderly women from their homes. Many lack family support and face life-threatening conditions in makeshift camps. Without secure housing, they are at risk of hunger, exposure to the weather, and preventable illnesses. Camps are overstretched, leaving elderly women neglected in relief efforts. Their safety and dignity are under urgent threat.
The project will provide 200 displaced elderly women with safe housing, nutritious meals, and health support. Shelter units will be equipped with beds, blankets, and cooking supplies, giving women a safe and dignified space to live. Food rations and medical care will be delivered regularly, reducing hunger and preventable health risks. This intervention will fill a major gap in aid where elderly women are often left behind.
Safe shelter and consistent care will reduce illness, hunger, and premature deaths among elderly women in displacement camps. By restoring dignity and stability, women will face less risk of neglect or abuse. The project also sets up a model for local groups to replicate in supporting displaced elderly populations. With safe living conditions, elderly women can live their final years in dignity rather than despair.
