Dear supporters,
For the first half year of 2023, automechanics classes have been going on as usual from Monday to Friday every week. We have 15 girls doing their certificate level and 15 girls doing their dioloma level. The diploma girls will graduate in December 2023.
Over 100 girls have graduated in our automechanics programme since 2010 and we are very happy to see that all of them have jobs in the industry. They will be the pioneers for our automechanics garage in the future. The allumni girls have been mentoring the new girls once in a week.
At this time we are creating more partnerships with automotive industries in Kenya to create more opportunities for our girls. Through our programme, demand for Safe spaces automechanics girls has increased in local garages due to their high skills in maintaining almost all types of cars available locally. The community has also accepted girls to pursue this trade which was initially meant for men. This is something we feel very proud of. Most girls have jobs and are able to support their families and themselves. They are om the path to self sustainance.
Testimony form Mary, who is in our automechanics programme: "I long to earn my first income when i finish my diploma course, i hope the support wont end before i achieve this dream. I dream of renting my own house, paying my bills and supporting my family and i hope to live better away from the slums."
Thank you for your ongoing support, it means all the world to our girls,
Peninah
