Natasha
Natasha is now thriving! Funded by well wishers like you, money was raised for Natasha to start her education. At 10 years old, Natasha needed a remedial teacher to give her private lessons in order for her to catch up to the normal level for her age, Time was of the essence for her to begin because Natasha had never been to school.
Now Natasha has a roof over her head, food each day to eat and a bed to sleep in, which is a whole new experience! Natasha’s grandmother comes to visit and is very proud of her granddaughter’s hard work Natasha’s teacher reports that Natasha is very bright and enthusiastic to learn.
As the sole caretaker of Natasha, her grandmother wanted to take care of Natasha and other children in the Marhare slums, struggling to pay the 1500Kes (€15,=) for monthly rent. Unfortunately Natasha’s mother was involved in drugs and her father is unknown.
Faith and Eunice
Faith & Eunice are 5 year old twin sisters who were usually found walking around the slums alone while their mother was occupied earning wages. Through donations from well wishers we were able to arrange for Faith & Eunice to both move into a comfortable Safe Home and begin their education.
We are extremely grateful that their primary sponsor has committed to supporting the twins until they graduate from the secondary school and we welcome sponsors who would care to commit to a period of time to support a child or children. At 19 the twin’s mother, a widow, does not have many options for survival for herself and her young children. She is uneducated and turned to prostitution to earn some money. The twin’s father was murdered by gang activities.
Rest assured that the twins mother agreed to this arrangement and she is able to visit with them occasionally. Faith and Eunice are striving in their new home environment. Although it has only been a short time since they moved there, everyone is enjoying them and amused with their humour and personalities, which you can get a glimpse of in their photos!
Natasha, Faith and Eunice were living in dangerous situations and it is so good to see them thriving in a safe protected environment where they will grow up as strong, educated individuals that contribute positively to the community.
Thank you for your continued support of Safe Spaces and our initiatives!
