Safety Champion Fellowship Program

By Elsa Marie DSilva | Project Leader

Red Dot Foundation conducted a Safety Champion Fellowship Program in collaboration with UN-Habitat and Her City. The theme aligned with the Urban Thinkers Campus theme: Engendering THE CITY WE NEED.

Students in the age group 17-35 years from around the country were invited to participate, forming teams of 2-4 persons seeking practical, hyperlocal, and inclusive solutions surrounding these 4 public areas: Transportation, Sanitation, Entertainment Zone, and Tourist spots aligned with at least one of the following themes using the Safecity App:

Category 1: Engendering Urban Planning and Design

Category 2: Engendering Inclusion and Equality

Category 3:  Engendering Peace and Safety

With the help of masterclasses, the teams embarked on their projects over 5 months.

We are happy to share feedback from the project:

“Having had the opportunity to work with the Red Dot Foundation, I can attest to the impactful nature of the Safety Champion Fellowship program. The initiative’s dedication to fostering positive change aligns seamlessly with the values of inclusivity and welfare.

During my tenure, I had the privilege of spearheading a project focused on addressing the challenges faced by blind individuals. Our team worked tirelessly to provide practical solutions, aiming to enhance the overall well-being of this community.

The program’s commitment to driving social change is commendable, and the collaborative spirit within the fellowship creates an environment conducive to innovation and progress. The experience has not only enriched my understanding of the issues at hand but has also empowered me to be an advocate for positive change.

I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful cause and look forward to witnessing the continued impact of the Safety Champion Fellowship program.” – Ankur Parmar, Team Change Makers
