Guarantee Shelters to Victims of Domestic Violence

Raise Your Voice Saint Lucia Inc., with the support of donors through our GlobalGiving.org project, has continued to provide a lifeline for women and children escaping domestic violence. The funds raised are used to pay for the rental and upkeep of a safe space that offers immediate shelter for victims who are in imminent danger or who have become homeless as a result of leaving abusive relationships. These safe spaces are not just physical shelters—they represent safety, dignity, and the first step toward rebuilding lives free from violence. Without them, many victims would face the impossible choice of returning to unsafe environments or living on the streets.

The critical importance of these safe spaces is demonstrated daily. Each year, we receive numerous referrals from the Police, Courts, Schools, Social Services, and walk-ins from victims who have nowhere else to turn. The safe house gives survivors a secure environment to stabilize, recover, and access support services that help them make informed decisions about their futures. For many, it is their first experience of sleeping without fear and their first opportunity to begin healing. Despite the impact, the demand for safe housing far exceeds our current capacity. While we strive to assist every victim referred to us, the reality is that our resources are limited, and we cannot always meet the overwhelming need.
