Our 200,000th Meal!

By Evelina Eskenazi | Founder and Director

This month, we’re celebrating a milestone that fills us with gratitude, pride, and a deep sense of purpose: our 200,000th meal.

Every one of these 200,000 meals represents more than just food on a plate, it’s a gesture of care, an expression of solidarity, and a testament to what can happen when people come together around a shared table. Behind each portion is a recipe thoughtfully chosen, ingredients carefully prepared, and a team of people who believe in the power of food to nourish not just the body, but also the heart and soul.

Fittingly, we reached this milestone in July 2025, our busiest month ever, with an astounding 11,527 meals prepared and served. This number reflects more than just increased demand; it’s a testament to our team’s dedication, our growing capacity, and the collective effort that keeps our kitchen running. It speaks to the momentum we’ve built and the trust our community places in us each day.

Since we started, we’ve collaborated with 41 partner organizations, each one playing a vital role in helping us reach those who need support the most. We've welcomed volunteers from all walks of life, 91 just this year, and over 350 throughout our journey, who have chopped, stirred, plated, and packed with purpose and joy. Our team has grown and evolved, and while we’ve seen people come and go, one person has been a constant foundation of consistency: our Head Chef, whose unwavering commitment and delicious cooking have anchored our kitchen through it all.

This milestone isn’t just about quantity, it’s about what those meals mean. We’ve seen firsthand how a warm, thoughtfully prepared dish can change someone’s day. How food can offer comfort, show respect, connection, and even the beginnings of a better future. We remain rooted in our belief that food is more than fuel, it’s a tool for transformation.

To everyone who’s been part of this journey, staff, volunteers, partners, and supporters, we thank you! Here's to the next 200,000 meals, and to continuing to serve with heart, flavor, and purpose.

With love,

The Saffron Kitchen Project Team
