Many schoolgirls in Niger State miss classes every month because they cannot afford sanitary pads. This project will provide menstrual hygiene products, education, and community support to 600 girls so they can attend school confidently and consistently. By removing a major barrier to education, we help girls stay in school and pursue their dreams.
In many communities across Niger State, poverty forces girls to rely on unsafe and unhygienic alternatives during menstruation. As a result, they often stay home from school for several days each month. These repeated absences lead to poor academic performance and, in many cases, dropping out entirely. Without access to sanitary pads and proper hygiene education, girls face stigma, embarrassment, and limited opportunities.
This project will supply sanitary pads to 600 schoolgirls and provide menstrual hygiene education in their schools. Teachers will be trained to create supportive environments, and parents will be engaged to reinforce positive attitudes at home. By combining products, knowledge, and community involvement, we ensure girls can manage their periods safely and confidently.
Each year, at least 600 girls will benefit from improved menstrual hygiene and uninterrupted schooling. Over time, this will reduce absenteeism and dropout rates, helping more girls complete their education and pursue meaningful careers. Empowered girls become empowered women who contribute to stronger, healthier communities. This project addresses a critical barrier to girls' education and creates lasting change.
