Protect the Family to Save the Children

By Jonathan Camargo Romero | Social Communicator of the Foundation

In 2025, the Foundation has redoubled its efforts to strengthen the processes for preventing child sexual abuse, recognizing that the family is a fundamental pillar in the protection and well-being of boys and girls.

Based on the premise that prevention begins at home, a comprehensive plan has been developed to actively involve parents, guardians, and caregivers through a structured calendar of workshops, educational talks, and professional support sessions. These spaces are not only intended to raise awareness about risk factors and warning signs of sexual abuse but also to equip families with the tools to respond promptly and appropriately to any situation that may threaten the safety and integrity of children.

Furthermore, understanding that child sexual abuse is closely linked to issues such as mental health both of the children and their family environments this topic has been included as a cross-cutting theme in all activities. During the first quarter of the year, several workshops were held for parents, which also addressed tools for emotional strengthening, assertive communication, and stress management actors that directly influence the quality of protective environments for children.

With the support of partners, donors, and committed individuals, we aim to continue implementing this strengthening and support plan for the 90 families we currently serve directly, and we aspire to expand this service to reach many more. We firmly believe that every family we accompany becomes a safer environment for children, and every preventive action is an opportunity to protect their integrity and ensure their full and healthy development.

With this preventive and participatory approach, the Foundation reaffirms its commitment to the comprehensive protection of childhood, convinced that only by working hand in hand with families can we create real change and ensure safe, loving, and respectful environments for all children.
