SUMMARY
Despite the Government and partner’s effort to reduce malaria in Uganda, Malaria remains the major cause of maternal mortality and mobility in Uganda. This is quarterly project status report for the period ended on 16th September 2022 on the “Save 750 Pregnant women from Malaria in Uganda” project. The overall goal of the project is to contribute to the reduction of maternal mortality rates in Uganda. The project is implemented in Kibuku district with financial support from donors under the GlobalGiving platform and Kagumu Community. KADO is grateful to all donors and the community for the support that contributed to the realization of these quarterly results despite the current hard economic situation in the country
ACHIEVEMENTS:
KADO runs a private not for profit community health center level III where all the achievements were obtained:
ü 81 pregnant mothers received long lasting insecticide treated nets (LLINs
ü 185 pregnant women and lactating mothers were sensitized on malaria prevention during antenatal clinic days
ü 81 pregnant mothers received Malaria Rapid Diagnostic (MRDTs) testing was ere
ü 85 pregnant mothers received ANC services.
ü 34 pregnant women received malaria microscopy tests to at the facility.
ü 81 pregnant mothers received presumptive intermittent treatment (IPTs)
CHALLENGES:
There is increased infant mortality and morbidity due malaria and are inadequate in public facilities. Malaria treatment is also relatively expensive for vulnerable communities.
RECOMMENDATIONS
ü KADO still requests you to continuously support this malaria prevention project to enhance reduction of maternal mortality and morbidity among pregnant mothers and children under five years in Uganda.
