MEDRIX has committed to serving our friends and neighbors of Southeast Asia with medical and education projects for over 13 years, but it always warms our hearts when our local friends join us in our mission. Back in October 2013, MEDRIX was honored to receive a generous donation of 60 blood pressure cuffs, both infant and pediatric, from Acorn Uniforms of Bellevue, WA. Acorn Uniforms was eager to help us continue broadening our horizons in Vietnam, and kindly donated them to us for a deep discount. MEDRIX is still overwhelmed by the unprecedented kindness and generosity shown to us by this company--thank you Acorn Uniforms!
MEDRIX has been keen to observe the intense passion and dedication shown by the doctors and nurses at National Pediatric Hospital in Hanoi, and Hue Central Hospital in Hue. These health professionals work tirelessly around the clock to tend to all of their patients with knowledge and compassion. Limited medical equipment and resources make their job much more difficult, as well as an overwhelming amount of patients. Every time we visit our colleagues in Vietnam, we are newly inspired not only to support them in any way possible, but to serve the people of Vietnam with the same fervor and hope that we witness daily at National Pediatric Hospital and Hue Central Hospital.
It was perfect timing to receive the generous donation of blood pressure cuffs from Acorn Uniforms. MEDRIX delivered these cuffs to the pediatric departments in both hospitals during a Study Abroad trip with Northwest University. The doctors and nurses on the receiving end were very excited, as you will see in the photos of this exchange! This equipment that is seen as so simple and vital in the U.S. is unfortunately not as common in Vietnam. Lack of resources make the jobs of the doctors and nurses much more difficult, especially in the pediatrics department, filled with young children who are not always able to verbalize what hurts and where. Accurate diagnosis is dependent not just on a nurse's knowledge on childhood diseases, but also support from vital medical equipment.
Thanks to you, our donors, generously helping Acorn Uniforms and MEDRIX supply these blood pressure cuffs to our partners and colleagues, countless young children and infants who fall ill now have a far better outcome ahead of them. These cuffs help ensure that our skilled doctors and nurses in Vietnam will provide an accurate and well-rounded diagnosis to every little patient they encounter. This will help change the face of health in the surrounding regions on an exponential level. Not just this "generation" of doctors, nurses and patients will be affected: now all doctors and nurses in the pediatrics department in these hospitals will learn how to effectively use these tools. Additionally, now all little patients in the future will receive the tender care that our colleagues tirelessly work to give them.
Thank you for your contribution. Already, the effects of your generosity are being felt in Vietnam, and it could not be accomplished without you!
