Hello to our 1 supporter!
Although our fundraising on GlobalGiving has not been amazing to date, we run monthly fundraising events, sell items at local markets and keep our running costs as low as we can so our school can continue.
Your donation funded food for the children, by providing school meals it is an incentive for the children to come to school, getting them through the door can be the biggest challenge and so you help us do this. Over 50% of our children walk for 2 hours a day to get to the school, the others are either part of our safe house/ rescue centre and live on site or are from the local community.
It is so satisfying to see people support small schools and projects in Zimbabwe, most state schools have between 80 - 120 children per class. We were shown a teacher's report card for 1 child in a government school, they had been marked 94 out of 94 in the class and the teacher wrote comments saying "You are dull, you take after your family, don't bother coming back to school".
With teachers like this and already school being a low priority for families it is no surprise people remain uneducated and unequipped to tackle the poverty cycle they live in. Your donations and support help us provide an alternative option for children where education is inclusive, supportive and most importantly educational!
Thank You,
