CCFU completed the documentation of historic buildings, sites and monuments in Mbale between the 18th and 21st July 2023. A total of 25 buildings was been documented.  We are in the process of developing a map that highlights the history and significance of the historic properties to the Bamasaba and Ugandans at large. The map which will be launched in November, 2023 will promote cultural tourism in the city.

During the documentation, CCFU held meetings with different stakeholders such as Mbale City and district authorities, owners of historic buildings, civil society, and the rest of the community to raise awareness about the significance of historic places and the need to preserve them.

In the same regard, CCFU held a meeting with the Kampala Capital City Authorities to follow up on the ordinance aimed at safeguarding historic properties in Kampala City. The process to enact the ordinance has been revived and we hope that if passed, it will serve as an example for other cities, including Mbale to develop laws that protect historic places in the country.

CCFU is working in collaboration with the Association of vintage cars in Uganda to organise a ride in Jinja City as a way of raising awareness about the plight and significance of historic buildings, sites and monuments in Jinja.

We appreciate you for your continued support.
