Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan, implemented a sustainable livelihood and environmental strengthening initiative targeting marginalized smallholder farmers in rural Rajasthan. Through a structured field assessment, 16 vulnerable farming households were identified, each facing ongoing challenges related to limited resources, declining soil productivity, and uncertain income opportunities. The project was designed to enhance long term resilience by integrating environmental restoration with livelihood support.
Under this initiative, a total of 112 fruit bearing saplings, along with organic fertilizers, were distributed to the selected farmers. The saplings included multiple varieties such as amla, jamun, lemon, pomegranate, mango, and chikoo. Plantation activities were carried out collaboratively, fostering community ownership and engagement. In addition, awareness sessions were conducted to build farmers’ capacity in plantation techniques, organic practices, and long term maintenance, ensuring sustainability and optimal growth of the saplings.
The intervention has laid a strong foundation for both ecological improvement and future income generation. As the trees mature, they are expected to contribute to enhanced soil health, improved biodiversity, and diversified livelihoods through fruit production. The participating farmers expressed sincere gratitude to RSKS India and all supporting donors for enabling this opportunity for growth and stability.
This initiative demonstrates how integrated, community based approaches can create lasting impact strengthening resilience, promoting sustainability, and nurturing hope for a more secure rural future.
