Dear Desert Tortoise Supporters,
Our desert tortoise breeding core continues to thrive at the Zoo – however, sadly, we have had no breeding success whatsoever over recent months.
Our zoological staff will re-evaluate the program in the coming months to determine what the possible problems might be and if we are able to solve them. Ultimately, this will determine the future of the project.
Not a very inspiring report, unfortunately – but these are the vagaries of wildlife conservation – nothing is easy and we simply have to persevere and do our best to ensure the survival of this unique species.
