Pangolin Release Journeys

As winter rolls into South Africa, our scaly friends are keeping us inspired! since our last report your support has fueled some incredible moments for our rescued pangolins. Despite poaching and habitat threats, Biscuit, Ntombi, and Archie are shining bright, showing why your help matters. Here’s the latest on their wild adventures!

Biscuit’s Bush Boss Vibes
Biscuit’s living his wild dream! Rescued from poachers as a scared, sick youngster, he needed serious TLC. Months of care and bush walks with his “walker” Dan turned him into a foraging champ. Released in January, he’s gained nearly 1.35kg, sniffing out ants and strutting through the bush like he owns it. His check-ins have us smiling, he’s thriving and loving his freedom.

Ntombi’s Mama Magic
Ntombi’s stealing our hearts! Saved earlier this year from the illegal wildlife trade while pregnant, this mama-to-be is rocking her wild home. Our monitoring team catches her munching ants like a pro, looking healthy and strong with her unborn pup in tow. Seeing her waddle confidently is pure joy and we can't wait to see when her little on makes an appearence.

Archie’s Wild Sprint
Archie’s a legend! Rescued in 2016 at a tiny 280g, he couldn’t nurse and needed round-the-clock love from Dr. Debbie English at Provet Animal Hospital. In a few short months, he hit 3kg, and in 2021, he donated blood to save another pangolin, Tamu. Released a month ago, he’s now bolting from his monitors, proof we’ve done it right!

Stay scaly,

The Scales Pangolin Rescue Fund Team
