Hello to all of our valued supporters,
Our new otters from Ukraine are settling into their new home and have been gradually and successfully introduced to our existing otter pair (male and female). This means that we now have two potential breeding pairs. The introduction of one of these pairs seems to be more successful than the other, with us already seeing mating attempts taking place. (Take a look at the link to the video below – it’s a little hard to see because of the angle of the sunlight, but one pair is mating in the water.)
We are very excited about to be able to add to our breeding group, especially given the challenges this conservation program has experienced in the past. Please continue to send positive thoughts our way as this species is critically endangered in Israel and we hope that we will be able to turn the situation around.
Stay tuned for more news soon.
Warmly,
Team Otter at the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo
