Dear Friends,
It’s been a heartwarming and inspiring few months at Footprints 4 Sam, and we’re excited to share what we’ve been up to!
We celebrated Mother’s Day on Sunday, the 10th of May, and some of our Angels 4 Sam volunteers popped in to RMMCH to offer a small, but heartfelt spoil to the very brave moms in the paediatric wards.
These amazing women spend terribly long days and sleepless (uncomfortable) nights, in a chair at the bedsides of their children. Their unconditional love, strength and resilience deserved to be recognised. With a touch of care and kindness, we handed out chocolates and hand creams, a small token to remind them that they are seen, valued and appreciated.
Behind the scenes, we have been working hard on the planning for our upcoming fundraising gala dinner. This will be our first dinner since Covid, and we are excited that we will bring a touch of colour to the winter canvas of Johannesburg on the 26th of July 2025.
Hosted at the beautiful Polo Room in Inanda, the special evening will be a celebration of paediatric dignity, kindness and compassion. But it will be more than just a gala dinner – it will be a gathering of like-minded hearts who are determined to make a difference to children and families who are facing the unimaginable.
We are inviting corporates and individuals to sponsor a table and show their support for a cause that is both urgent and deeply meaningful. This black-tie event promises a night of fine dining, inspiring stories and an opportunity to be part of a movement that is changing the landscape of paediatric healthcare in South Africa. Funds raised will go towards our six key initiatives and we promise to give feedback on the dinner in our next report! Watch this space!
We also recently spent time filming our new Footprints 4 Sam corporate video (that we will launch at the dinner). We had the privilege of spending the mornng at RMMCH interviewing some of the incredible doctors, as well as families and children, whose lives have been touched by our work. Their heartfelt stories reminded us of why we do what we do, and filled us with hope and love. We can’t wait to share this video with you!
As we sit beside our warm fires and wrap up, as winter truly sets in here in Jozi (Johannesburg, South Africa), we hold those who don’t have the same priviledge in our thoughts. And it is, with your continued support, that we are able to make a difference to the lives of those who need it most. For that we are very grateful.
Until next time,
Warmest regards
Jo Giles
