At Footprints 4 Sam, we believe that dignity, compassion and kindness are essential components in the healing journey of every child and family. Through our Beautiful Memories Initiative, we strive to make things a little brighter by transforming hospital wards and rooms in state hospitals into beautiful, nurturing spaces that promote holistic healing and hope.
We are very proud to tell you that over the years we have proudly refurbished and renewed over 12 key spaces at Rahima Moosa Mother & Child Hospital (RMMCH)! Each one has been carefully thought out and designed to uplift the spirits of our young beneficiaries, their families and the healthcare professionals who care for them.
Over the past few months, our team, including our amazing interior decorator, Natalie Gibb, who gives so generously of her time, has been hard at work breathing new life into several important areas across the hospital:
NICU Breastfeeding Room:
We recently gave the breastfeeding room in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit a gentle makeover - recovering couches, replacing blinds and adding beautiful décor touches. This warm, inviting space now offers comfort and calm for mothers as they nurture and feed their little ones.
Kangaroo Mother Care Ward:
The couches in this special ward (which we originally helped outfit a few years ago) received a much-needed refresh (a sign that this space, that we originally outfitted a few years ago, has been a haven for hundreds of moms and preemie babies). We have some other plans in the pipeline that will also make a significant difference to the KMC Ward so watch this space for more info!
Ward 1 Curtains and Windows:
We are currently in the process of installing new curtains and frosted windows in Ward One. The Ward was recently repainted, and the old curtains had grown a little worn. The new additions will not only brighten the environment but will also bring a sense of comfort and privacy to the little patients and their moms, who sit by their little one’s cots day in and day out. We are certain the fresh new look will also lift the spirits of the dedicated nursing sisters who serve with such love every day.
None of this would be possible without the kindness and generosity of our GlobalGiving community! Thank you for walking alongside us in creating footprints of love, kindness and dignity. Your ongoing support helps us to transform spaces making the journey for children, their families and the healthcare professionals a little lighter, a little brighter and filled with hope.
We will keep you updated on our beautiful spaces!
Until next time
Jo
