Community Cats are Getting a Chance!

Hello, friends –

Our Change Lives: Spaying & Neutering Cats Works! project has only been part of GlobalGiving since early fall 2023 and you’ve already done wonderful things in the lives of the community cats living in parts of rural central North Carolina!

As we begin a new year, we can look back on great success in 2023!  Our program offered spay or neuter procedures for 2,600 community cats in several rural counties that offer no spay or neuter services at all.  Adding to the counties in the central part of the state, we expanded our program’s reach by including TNR cats from Robeson County, farther southeast and also an underserved rural county.  It’s hard to grasp this fact, but our spay and neuter procedures prevent literally millions of kittens from being born into harsh and often dangerous circumstances, only to live short and difficult lives or to be euthanized in animal control facilities.

Our program doesn’t just spay or neuter community cats one whole colony at a time, we also provide life-saving health care for cats who arrive wounded, sick, or suffering from a continuing condition.  We care for the whole cat and work to improve their lives right now with treatment and care, whatever they come to our clinic with – from broken bones to eye infections, anemia from flea infestation or wounds.  Our goal is to make them healthy enough either to return to their colonies healthy and having no more litters of kittens or, in the case of cats and kittens who are not afraid of people, to work with rescue groups to find them good homes.  We’re able to do these things in partnership with wonderful and dedicated TNR volunteers and the selfless people who care for the colonies.

You’re part of the team, too, and we thank you for sharing your love and compassion with these community cats!  Your generous support for this program means there will be fewer kittens born in community cat colonies to unhealthy mothers and very much at the mercy of the elements, predators, and human cruelty.  Thank you for showing love to these cats and for being their voice through your donations.

With deep gratitude,

Dr. Linda and Sam
