SAYes GlobalGiving Project Update

Welcome to our project update for what we know is going to be another exciting year ahead. In this update, we thought that you would like to hear about the great work that the young people, who are at the heart of our organisation, have been doing.

Our new Ambassador programme is well underway and we are delighted to introduce some of the young people who will be representing SAYes in South Africa and the UK. Dimakatso, Shameelah, Amina, Carly, Michel and Mama will be heading up our programme in South Africa, with Chelsea and Tezlym in the UK. We wil be hearing more from our Ambassadors in the months to come, we are super proud of the work they have done so far.

The South Africa Alumni is thriving! The members regularly organise fun events which aim to make everyone feel included. As well as sharing news and good food, they also discuss future events and work out strategies for the months ahead. The membership is growing - more and more young people are excited to share the word about mentoring.

For example, the Alumni teamed up with non-profit Kwanele to run a workshop on the app's purpose and how to use it. Mentors and all young people involved with SAYes (including Mentee Liasons, Ambassadors and Mentees) were welcomed along to what was a fascinating and informative event. The Kwanele app was built to make a difference in the lives of gender-based violence (GBV) survivors. It is free to download and use.

Meanwhile in the UK, the team joined up with SAYes Ambassador Chelsea, and popped into City and Islington College for a chat with students. Chelsea explained to the students about the work of SAYes and what it was like to be mentored. Islington is one of the London Boroughs that we are working with, as part of the Mayor of London's 'New Deal for Young People' and Propel Collaboration. Across the city in Lewisham, Transition Specialist Fiona and Ambassador Tezlym met with young people at the Lewisham Care Leaver Open Day.

The role of our Ambassadors is to provide a channel of communication between SAYes and young people who are interested in being mentored. The future looks bright with such shining stars at the helm.

As always, we could not do this without your continued support.
