Young girls in Liberia rarely have access to global cultural exchange and digital communication skills. YDCA Liberia is launching a Pen-Pal Program that pairs Liberian girls with students in Japan to build friendships, promote cultural pride, and empower girls with new global opportunities. This project will provide training, materials, internet support, and safe communication channels. Your donation will help these girls connect to the world and see a future beyond their communities.
In many Liberian communities, girls have limited exposure to global cultures, role models, and learning opportunities. Schools often lack internet access, email tools, and mentorship programs that help students build literacy, confidence, and digital communication skills. As a result, young girls grow up disconnected from the global community and miss out on opportunities that could inspire their education and leadership. Financial barriers also prevent many of them from staying in school.
The Liberia-Japan Pen Pal Program offers girls the chance to engage in meaningful cross-cultural exchange while supporting their educational journey. This project will provide: Scholarships for tuition, school supplies, and uniforms Digital literacy training Internet and communication support Pen pal coordination and safe communication guidelines Cultural education sessions for Liberian and Japanese students Mentorship to build confidence and leadership skills
This project will create lasting change by: Keeping 50 girls in school for the academic year, improving writing, reading, and digital communication skills, strengthening cultural pride and global friendships. It will build confidence and leadership potential, creating pathways for future scholarships and international opportunities.
