Report on Scholarships for Needy Students

By Bonnie Mendes | Project Leaders

Dear Freinds,

Thank you for your support throughout and for supporting the needy yet intelligent students in Pakistan for completing their education. We would like to share two stories with you in this report to show you how this project has impacted the lives of the poor and underprivileged children.

Story # 1:

Angel
14, resides in Gojra.
She is in the eighth grade. She is the sister of four brothers. She stated that her goal is to become doctor after completing her education. She claimed that her parents rejected her dream when she told them about it as her father works in soap factory and cannot afford to pay for her education. She shared that "was crying uncontrollably one day while sat in my house garden. My cousin's sister approached me and inquired about my concern. told her about my aspirations. She gave me encouragement and informed me that the Society for Human Development offers scholarships to deserving and underprivileged students.

I saw some hope. I went to SHD and submitted a scholarship application. Now that I have the scholarship, I can carry on with my education. I am incredibly appreciative of the whole team members of the Society for Human Development for helping the underprivileged youngsters.

Story # 2

An affected of the Jaranwala Incident:

Twelve-year-old Sana resides in  jaranwala where an angry mob burnt 25 churches and 145 homes of Christian People couple of months ago. She claimed that when the incident happened, she and her parents were at home. Our Christian community was attacked by a mob who set everything on fire. She mentioned that everything burnt in that incident, therefore I don't have any books, copies, bags, shoes, or school supplies anymore. She added that following the incident, Father Simon Khursheed and staff from the Society for Human Development came to see us. Staff members of the Society for Human Development take steps to restore children's education, and for this reason, they give me resources like school bags, books, copies, stationery, uniforms, shoes, etc. I am really appreciative of SHD for helping me to finish the studies.

We would like to request our donors to continue supporting SHD's work to help these disadvantaged children get education they deserve.
