Girls in Nigeria walk miles to fetch heavy firewood, selling it for school fees. Often, that money buys food instead. Local school data shows 7 out of 10 girls drop out by senior class due to costs. The new term begins soon. Without help, 150 identified girls will trade classrooms for the streets, risky work, or forced marriage. Scholarships for tuition, uniforms, and supplies are urgent to protect their safety and future.
Teenage girls endure backbreaking work collecting firewood to pay for school. The physical strain causes injury, and the long hours leave no time to study. Even then, the small earnings are usually spent on family meals, so tuition remains unpaid. This impossible situation pushes girls out of school and into dangerous environments like street hawking or early marriage for survival.
We will award full scholarships to 150 vulnerable girls. Each scholarship pays their school tuition directly. We will also provide each girl with a complete kit: a uniform, sandals, and all necessary books and writing materials. This direct support removes the need for dangerous income generation and secures their place in school.
Keeping a girl in school protects her from immediate harm and early marriage. Education gives her the knowledge to build a safer life. She can pursue skilled work, earn a living wage, and support her own family differently. This scholarship is an investment in breaking a cycle of poverty and risk, giving a girl the tools to change her own story.
