Narrative on activities for this project:

Rebuild Bay continues to assist Bay County residents return to a permanent living situation. Although there has been a significant slow down in home repair activities due to a decrease in volunteer-based nonprofit building capabilities, the organization has been able to assist residents who were previously renting. One such resident was a single mother with three school-aged children, whose apartment was completely destroyed during the hurricane. She and her children lived in a hotel for three months after the storm before moving to a FEMA trailer. We were able to assist this household purchase a trailer and required insurances, providing them a permanent living solution. Another resident with three teenage children, whose home had to be demolished due to hurricane damage, was assisted in having a new home built and household items purchased.

Over the past couple of months, nearly 30 households have been assisted, including 27 school-aged children. The need, however, is still great. There are hundreds more households that continue to be in various stages of recovery. With job losses and layoffs rampant due to COVID-19 responses, residents that were trying to manage their own recovery now find themselves needing assistance. Your continued support is desperately needed to ensure we can continue helping those that have been struggling to get into a permanent home for almost two years now.
