In many vulnerable communities across Uganda, children arrive at school hungry and struggle to concentrate because they have little or nothing to eat during the day. For some families, providing breakfast and lunch every school day is simply beyond their financial means. Hunger can become a major barrier to learning, regular attendance, and staying in school.
Good Cause Foundation Uganda is working to establish and strengthen sustainable school feeding programs in vulnerable schools across Uganda. Through this initiative, we aim to provide nutritious breakfasts and lunches to children who need them most.
A daily school meal is more than food. It can give a child the energy to participate in lessons, the confidence to remain in school, and the opportunity to focus on building a better future. By helping provide nutritious meals, donors can contribute to improved attendance, concentration, classroom participation, and retention.
The project will prioritize locally sourced foods wherever possible. This means that support for school feeding can also create opportunities for local farmers to supply schools with food while strengthening community-based livelihoods.
Our goal is to build sustainable feeding systems rather than provide temporary relief. We want schools and communities to gradually develop reliable approaches that can continue supporting children beyond individual donations.
Your contribution can help put a nutritious meal on a child's plate and create a better environment for learning.
When children are not learning on empty stomachs, they have a greater opportunity to learn, grow, and dream. Please join us in helping vulnerable school children access nutritious meals every school day.
