School Feeding Joy for Ugandan Kids

Good nutrition and education are closely connected. When children are hungry, it can be difficult for them to concentrate, participate actively in lessons, and remain motivated throughout the school day. For vulnerable families, the cost of providing daily meals can also contribute to irregular school attendance.

Good Cause Foundation Uganda is responding by establishing and strengthening sustainable school feeding programs in vulnerable schools across Uganda.

Our approach goes beyond simply providing food. We want to create a system where children receive nutritious breakfasts and lunches while schools and communities are connected to local food producers.

The project will source food locally whenever possible, creating opportunities for farmers to supply schools with agricultural products. This approach can help keep resources within local communities while supporting both children's nutrition and local livelihoods.

For children, the benefits can include improved energy, concentration, classroom participation, health, attendance, and retention. For schools, reliable feeding programs can contribute to a more supportive learning environment. For farmers, school demand can create an additional opportunity to sell locally produced food.

We are committed to working with vulnerable schools and communities to develop feeding programs that are practical, sustainable, and responsive to local needs.
