Meet Brian

Brian's Report Card
Brian's Report Card

Brian is a 15-year old boy from the Bangladesh area of Mombasa, Kenya.  He has four sisters and is attending the clinic at Mikindani. His mother [Benta] is a widow also a client in Mikindani.  Besides that, she is a community health volunteer worker who assists the office in home-based care services at the village level.  This is quite commendable because she doesn't earn anything for this service, but is impacting the lives of many due to her selflessness.  She is also a day laborer, working at a small,l local beauty shop.

Brian has been in the program for over 5 years now and is taking anti-retroviral (ARV) medicine.  He is now in class 8 this year and will be sitting  for his end of primary education examination. It’s our hope that he will perform well and join secondary school  next year.

He’s an active pupil in school and also  in the senior youth support group at the clinic and  has benefitted with education on stigma, disclosure, prevention with positives, and counseling  services. He’s taking his ARVs well and without any problem. In nutrition, his mother has  benefitted with knowledge on food preparation and handling and in the use of the available  foods . Due to their very low income, this family always receives porridge flour to supplement their diet.

In terms of education, Brian has been receiving uniforms and shoes and this year his school remedial dues were paid in full! This has enabled him to remain in school and he really appreciates the support. His performance has
been pleasing and he is putting more efforts in his studies.

Thank you for supporting children with Brian, giving them a way out of poverty and into hope.
