Even if Kazimia remains a little calm at the moment, we are disturbed and worried by clashes taking place around us. The high and middle plateaus of Fizi (Minembwe area) are theaters of atrocious confrontations between the Bantu armed groups 'Mayi Mayi' and Tutsi militias 'Ngumino' for several months. Entire villages are set on fire on both sides, the displaced are numerous and the cows herd of Tutsi are hidden in Kazimia in the Ngandja forest. Our school have just welcomed 12 new students among the displaced. We hope that the visit of President of the Republic during the week in the region will bring a lasting solution.
For the construction, we are bringing 20,000 bricks, cement bags and reinforcing iron from Uvira (200 km) to complete the walls. This is progressing well. ‘Que les belligérants s’entendent, qu’ils cessent de troubler notre région pour que nous puissions travailler et construire’ soupire le Directeur de l’Ecole en regardant vers Minembwe. (‘Let the belligerents agree, let them stop disturbing our region so that we can work and build’, sighs the Headmaster of the school, looking towards Minembwe)
