Project Report | Feb 13, 2023
School Construction (31)

By Mabwe Lucien | Project Leader

The security situation is going from bad to worse in our country and in particular in the East of the country. The Rwandan-backed M23 rebels continue to gain ground from the National Army (FARDC) in North Kivu and set up their own administration. They recruit troops by torturing and killing people.
On the other side, in the highlands of Fizi and Uvira, the Burundian Army helps our Army (East African Community Agreements) to fight against national and foreign armed groups. All this worries the population, which has been living for several decades in the atrocities of war.

A glimmer of joy: We are delighted with the success of our first 2 students (2006) who have completed the entire primary cycle at Glenn Paige Nonkilling School, who have just obtained Bachelor's degrees respectively at Hope Methodist University of Africa (American) of Bujumbura and at the Higher Pedagogical Institute of Bukavu.

During the month of January, there was a flurry of preparation for welcoming a Christian couple from England to visit our School, to inquire about nonkilling lessons and their impact on the daily life of folks. But also meet teachers in our region. Unfortunately, at the last minute, for security reasons, the visit was postponed for next year.

We continue to buy and store building materials (cement, bricks and reinforcing steel) to continue the construction of our School.

We wish a happy new year 2023 of prosperity, success and good health to all our donors. Amen.
