We are happy to be able to present this report after a few months of absence. Some technical difficulties are the basis of this non-report and a happy outcome has been found.
That being said, our School is doing well despite an unhealthy war environment; in fact, the east of our country is on fire: In North Kivu, the M23 armed movement is fighting with the National Army (FARDC) for control of the province. On the mountains of Fiziet d'Uvira, armed movements, both national and foreign, are tearing each other apart, to the great dismay of the population who aspire to peace.
Along Lake Tanganyika, there is a resurgence of the cholera epidemic in many villages, including Kazimia due to a lack of drinking water. So far our School has been spared.
At the School, three classes with 124 students have been functioning well with 3 teachers and a supervisor since the start of the school year (2023-2024). Small school materials have been purchased and a simple breakfast is offered twice a week to the great joy of the students and local population.
The School is now in the exam period and soon the Christmas holidays will begin.
The construction equipment in stock will be used to complete the walls soon despite incessant rains falling in the region.
We thank our donors for their loyalty and may they continue to honor us with their invaluable kindness.
